Check your device first

Install and add the service

Test the complete experience
Test the remote’s navigation and the player’s channel list, audio and subtitle controls. If casting from another device is your intended method, test that exact arrangement separately; it is not the same as native playback in a tvOS app.
Confirm you are using Apple TV hardware
The Apple TV app on another manufacturer’s screen does not turn that screen into a tvOS device. Check that your hardware has an App Store and that the chosen player supports it. Older hardware without app downloads needs a different setup approach.

Separate tvOS playback from casting
Test a native player independently from AirPlay or another casting method. Record whether the failure appears on the Apple TV itself or only when a phone sends the picture. Include the hardware generation, tvOS version and player name when asking for help.
