IPTV Programme Guide: EPG Setup
The electronic programme guide adds schedule information to supported channels. Guide data and live video are separate, so one can work while the other needs attention.
What the guide provides
An EPG can show current and upcoming programme names and times. Coverage depends on the channel, data source and player. Some entries may have incomplete descriptions or no guide information.
Do not assume a blank guide means the live channel is unavailable. Try playback first, then investigate the guide separately.
Check the clock and time zone
Make sure the device date, time and time zone are correct. Then inspect any guide-specific offset in the player. A device setting and a player offset can interact, so changing both at once can make the schedule more confusing.
Compare several channels. If only one is shifted, note that channel rather than applying a global correction immediately.
Refresh once and let it finish
Use the player’s normal guide-refresh control and allow the import to complete. Repeated refreshes can delay a useful result. The catalogue and guide may use different update processes.
Keep the player open long enough to see whether the data arrives. Record any error message and whether the issue began after an app update.
Guide data is not recording or catch-up
An EPG entry describes a programme; it does not by itself make that programme replayable. Catch-up requires separate support for the channel and player. A past programme can remain visible in the guide even when no replay exists.
Check the supported catch-up window during testing and avoid assuming every guide entry can be opened later.
